Ondo State Mourns as Governor Akeredolu Passes Away After Leukemia Illness
Ondo City, Nigeria - Ondo State was plunged into mourning today following the news of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu's passing. After a prolonged illness, the Governor succumbed peacefully earlier this morning, surrounded by his family and close aides.
Governor Akeredolu, fondly known as Aketi by many, leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service to Ondo State. According to report by Saharareporter, Governor Akeredolu was treated by state house doctors up to his death because they couldn't fly him abroad due to some undisclosed reasons. However, he died in Lagos while they're busy looking for dialysis machine.
Recall that Rotimi Akeredolu returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany and only recently proceeded on another one after he was directed by President Bola Tinubu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
In the coming days, Ondo State will observe a period of mourning as arrangements for the Governor's funeral are finalized. The state government has declared a public holiday to allow residents to pay their respects.
